Origin of the character

甲骨文字に見られる原字「[⿻女丶]」は、跪いた人を象る「女」とその臀部付近に添えられた深く腰掛けることを示す（またはは敷物や腰掛けの類を象る）筆画から構成される。のち「宀」（家屋）を加えて「安」の字体となる。「座る」を意味する漢語｛安｝を表す字。
