形声。「食」+音符「官」。「やかた」「宿舎」を意味する漢語{館}を表す字。もと「宛」が{館}を表す字であったが、食偏を加えて「𩜌」となり、さらに音変化(との合流)に従って音符を「宛」から「官」に変更したもの。
